Volunteer & Background Clearance
FBISD Taleo clearance & volunteer roles.
Step 1: Get Cleared - All volunteers must complete the FBISD background check before participating in any school event.
Fort Bend ISD requires a fresh criminal history background check for every volunteer at the start of each school year. This includes field trips, room parents, carnival helpers, and mystery readers.
Step 2: Choose Your Volunteer Role
Find the opportunity that fits your schedule, interests, and availability.
Event Volunteer
Assist with set-up, activity booths, ticket sales, or snack stations at campus events such as the Fall Boosterthon, Winter Wonderland, Spring Carnival, or Staff Appreciation lunches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Boosterthon lap counting & water stations
- Carnival game setup & ticket sales
- Book Fair cashier & setup assistance
- Staff appreciation dessert bar hosting
Room Parent
Serve as the primary liaison between your classroom teacher and class parents to coordinate grade-level holiday parties, teacher birthday celebrations, and class gift collections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize Winter & End-of-Year Class Parties
- Coordinate Teacher Appreciation gifts
- Communicate teacher wishlists to class parents
- Assist teacher with special class projects
Committee Chair
Lead an active PTO program or committee such as Spirit Nights, Hospitality, Yearbook, Box Tops, or Campus Beautification working alongside executive board members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead committee planning & budget allocation
- Coordinate committee volunteer sign-ups via Konstella
- Report committee progress at monthly PTO meetings
- Empower parent volunteers for successful execution
Important FBISD Volunteer Policy Guidelines
- •All volunteer applications are submitted through FBISD Taleo and processed by district security.
- •Please allow 3-5 business days for background check clearance before your first volunteer assignment.
- •Always sign in at the Ferguson Elementary front office with your government ID when arriving on campus.
- •Volunteer badges must be worn conspicuously at all times while on campus grounds.
